Bohemian Decor
Bohemian Decorating
It’s the 40the year of Woodstock, and as this music fest is all about love, peace, and light, I thought it would be a good idea to tackle bohemian decorating.
Bohemian decor has been called many names: eclectic and vintage are two terms often associated with bohemian decorating.
Much like the bohemian lifestyle, this decor is laid-back, carefree, devoid of strict rules, and very free-spirited.
It’s usually a happy mishmash of interior design opposites: vintage and modern; neutrals and punchy, vibrant colors; antiques and new pieces; European and Moroccan—this is why it’s been called eclectic, too.
With this kind of decor, anything goes! It’s rich with textures, prints, patterns, and colors. It’s far from being matchy-matchy.
Orange, browns, and reds are colors that are often associated with the boho look. This Couristan Visionnaire Area Bohemian Decor Rug has the boho colors and the funky design or pattern.
An unexpected touch of glamour is classic bohemian. That’s the beauty of it: You can have your crystal chandelier and $20 Moroccan lamp in the same room.
This Crystorama Bohemian Crystal Swarovski Spectra Crystal Chandelier adds just the touch of vintage, quirky glamour to your boho decor. And one important thing to remember about your boho lighting: It should cast a warm glow to the room.
This Standard Cathedral Entertainment Armoire In Vintage Sienna Brown lends a bohemian touch as well, with its Baroque Neo classic aesthetic and aged vintage color finish and light distressing.
But for this armoire to really work in a bohemian interior design, you have to pair it with an opposite, say, a modern-style sofa in a pop of color.
The Sitcom Jasmine Taupe Lounge Sofa has the modern lines to offset the rich vintage style of the armoire. Plus, you can accessorize it with pillows and throws in rich patterns and fabrics.
Other keywords you should remember if you want to go for a bohemian interior design or bohemina decor: tapestries, hardwood floors (with a wool braided rug, of course), a bit of nature (like houseplants), and lots and lots of mismatched colors!
