Lift-Top Coffee Tables

A perfect addition to an apartment or any home with fewer square feet is a functional lift-top coffee table for the living room. They feature a mechanism that allows the top of the table to rise on metal hinges. Why is this handy?

For one thing, if you find that your dining table takes up too much space, you can use the lift-top as a dining surfaced while raised. You can also get rid of a bulky desk and use the lift-top for your laptop & workspace. And, of course, you can use it as a regular coffee table when the top is lowered. Some lift top coffee tables even have extra storage space when lifted, so you can use it to store any excess items.

Take a look at the following lift top coffee tables – you’ll be sure to find one within your budget and design style preference.

Entertaining with Coffee Tables

When you’re having guests over for a few drinks or appetizers, the communal spot to gather round is usually the coffee table. Since it’s generally surrounded by seating, people like to relax and put their drinks or food on the coffee table in front of them. Selecting the ideal coffee table for entertaining isn’t difficult – as long as you know the tips to choosing a table that’s right for your living space.

The normal coffee table height is somewhere between 16 – 18 inches. If you want to entertain often, you might want your coffee table have some more height so your visitors can easily rest down their drinks – somewhere around 20 inches or maybe more.

A well-known guideline is that your coffee table should be similar height, or about 1 – 2 inches below the seat height of your couch. The model length of your coffee table should be around two-thirds the length of your sofa.
The following coffee tables are larger in size and/or height – perfect for entertaining!

If you’re planning on having a party with lots of guests, decorating your coffee table shouldn’t be your priority, since you’ll need plenty of table space. However, if your plan is to have a few friends come by, having a decorated coffee table can really make it a focal point. The following are some unique table-topping ideas:

Forget placing those free coasters you got from the local bar on your coffee table – look around on the Internet and find a unique set of vintage coasters. Scatter them around the table or stack them, depending on the look you’re going for.

Find an old scarf or pillow sham with a colourful pattern and place it in the center of your coffee table to add visual interest.

If you have an interesting-looking bottle in your recycling bin, why not fill it with water and stick a few of your favourite flowers in it? Place your homemade vase somewhere other than the center to break the cliché
